the actors centre
Winning 6 months free membership to the Actors Centre was one of the most useful tools I have discovered. The Actors Centre provides on-going training and support to professional actors, providing workshops with some of the largest names in the industry as well as support meetings in regards to tax or marketing yourself. They are attached to the Tristan Bates Theatre, and offer the Alan Bates Bursary.
Equity
Being a member of Equity shows industry professionals that I too am of a professional standard, as well as offers workshops in regards to understanding the business side of the industry. Most importantly they offer Actors rights and fair pay. Being a member of Equity is crucial for any actor.
Actor's Guild
The Actors Guild is partnered with Spotlight and offers many workshops with some of the industries top professionals including casting directors and company's such as Complicite. This has helped develop my training further as well as branch out and meet new contacts.
iActing Studios
The iActing Studios are based in Los Angeles and allow actors all over the world to participate in workshops online. As a result I receive training from across the pond, as well as advice from US Casting Directors which comes is exceptionally handy with film auditions. Understanding what training is being offered across the globe and making use of as much as possible is one of the reasons why I use iActing Studios. I find I get more workshops on TV and Film auditions through iActing.
National Theatre
Taking the occasional workshops with the National Theatre allows me to keep up to date with the techniques used in one of the most prestigious of British theatres. Taking workshops in voice work, movement and puppetry has allowed me to develop my skills to a much higher standard as I originally anticipated. Workshopping at the National has also encouraged me in my career choice, as a couple of workshop leaders have given me very positive feedback in regards to my work.
Masterclass
Masterclass workshops give actors and directors the opportunity to work with the industry's best, I have done workshops with Felicity Kendal, Celia Imrie, Adrian Scarborough, Jenny Agutter and many more. Such opportunities I would not have had, were it not for Masterclass.
rada
Taking regular classes and workshops at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art has allowed me to ensure I am getting the best training possible. For me RADA is the place to go to learn the classics and it is certainly where I have learnt most of what I know about the classics. My passion for Shakespeare is encouraged here, and is allowed to fester and grow further.
